Anyone else had trouble with their herbs? All my thyme, in borders, pots and herb garden have died this year. They were different variety s and ages. I had noticed beetles, but thought they were mint .

i agree, i have a lovely red one, at the moment full of starlings gorging. i looks good most of the year so keep it if yyou have space. i would really like a white one, it looks slightly more delicate than the red. will grow fast, and is seeded readilly by birds; i regularly pick them out of my paths and pots. maybe i should leave a few and see if i get a different form?

talking about blackcurrants, mine have maggots in the fruit. anyone else had this problem, and what can i do to prevent it next year? i have young children so don't really want to use pesticides.

i plant mine in tubs (i have a very small garden) and put one of the childrens windmills in each tub. it seems to keep the birds off, but the squirrel doesn't seem too bothered by it!

Talkback: Mouse in the compost bin

i don't mind the mice, or even the frogs and taods; although it does make it a bit more interesting when you want to empty. i do draw the line at snakes though! when we started getting those in the bin i'm afraid it had to go; we moved it to my husbands workplace and he now takes a pot in every day, bringing a tub home as and when i need it.
