Pak Choi has bolted :(

Bolted Pak Choi are perfectly edible. If you snap off the flowering shoots you will get a flush of secondary shoots.

I grow sweetcorn in a polytunnel at a spacing of about 45cm each way. They cast little shade and the bush tomatoes,basil,chillies and cucumbers in between don't seem to mind. Though the corn does need a helpiing hand with pollination.

@ Jess, a good courgette for containers is Midnight F1. I've grown it in a 12 inch pot, great for small sunny spots.Needs lots of liguid feed to get a reasonable crop.

I'd give them a liqiud feed as soon as the blossom starts to drop, the grow bags will be pretty depleted by now.

If you like a stir-fry, oriental brassicas are easy and sure fire. I'm getting kaillan and choy sum twice a week from sowings I made in the middle of July.

Florence fennel, turnips, dwarf french beans (in the south) and most of the oriental brassicas.You could check out the big seed companies, they will have collections of vegetable plants.

It's not a good year for garlic and as far as I am concerned it is looking to be a poor season all round. Too much rain and not enough sun.

My apple tree has set about a tenth of what it usually would. I think cold weather at blossom time kept the pollinators at home.
