Ive grown onions for years with no problem but since moving to Hungary im having big prolems. Firstly I get alot that bolt but my biggest problem is why do they split. By that I mean when I go to peel them theres 2 onions under the skin and where they join each has a flat side which then means they are quite small. Im sure last year I grew stuttgart (not alot of choice here) and from May to August its extremly hot 75 to 100.

A to Z of gardening

I really do wish the BBC wouldnt be so quick to take past episodes off the iplayer. First they took all the GW programs off within days of the last one being aired and now they are doing it with the new gardening program A to Z of gardening.I wanted to watch A of gardening which was only on 3 Sundays ago to see about apple tree grafting and its gone already. Even B has gone and its not 2 weeks old. Theres nothing in their place to do with gardening so why not leave them there especially as I and probably others find it a good program.

Well considering how much money the BBC rake in from their viewers each year in licence fees I think its about time they put on what we want to watch and not what they want us to watch. They must have thousands of episodes of GW whats wrong with showing some from years back theres probably alot more interesting stuff on them than there is on the ones we see of late.

Exactly my point WHY have all the programs gone that were on iplayer the other week? Half of what we watch on television these days is repeats and the one thing id be quite happy to watch again is nowhere to be seen.and probably never will be.

Gardeners' World hibernating

I think its about time for a new presenter on GW as Monty Don sometimes well actually alot of the time talks alot of twaddle and thats putting it mildy. He literally says things that arnt true which I dont think is a lot of help to new gardeners whereas old gardeners just ignore him. Theres no excitement in the program any more as its just the usual things year in year out and some of us need abit more than that. Carol Kliens giggling gets on my pip but at least what she says is quite often very informative. I wld love to sit on a winters evening watching GWs that were made in the Spring and Summer but I cant even watch them on the IPlayer as the miserable BBC have even taken them off now.

I thought I wld watch Gardeners World on Iplayer as its finished on tele now but they have all gone Why? Now its dark and cold  it wld be a great time to be able to watch the programs as alot of the time im too busy in the garden to watch them on television. Maybe gardening programs shld be put on in winter when everyones stuck in the house.

Can anyone tell me why alot of the flowers on my Nevada rose are very pale pink but in Spring and Autumn they are the true colour creamy yellow. Also I have the rose Agnes rose and this yr it flowered for the first time and they are the same pale pink

Can I move my peony?

Ive moved Peonys plenty of times but only in the autumn. I usually take all the soil off so I can see where the new buds are for the next year and the art seems to be plant them just below the soil. At this time I usually take off a tuber with a new shoot and found this the best way to increase them. They have always flowered the following year.

I have a 5yr tree that drops almost all its fruit when they are only the size of a pea and everyone has a black spot on it at the bottom the size of a pin head. The ones left of which there arnt many dont have this spot. Ive read everywhere and it seems its the plum sawfly - am I right? If so the solution seems to be Derris but that is no longer available so what wld be the alternative? Ive also gone thro the soil at the base and cant find any of the grubs mentioned. Would it be any good putting a grease band round it?
