Completely new to veg growing

Posted: 29/12/2012 at 17:19

Go for runner beans you get loads for your money and much better taste than shops polestar great variety, but ones with white flowers the bees go to first eaiser for them to see the flowers I gess.

Try getting your seeds from somewhere like a potato festival if one near where you are or seed swap where they are not too much money. I went to a potato festival and they do half pint cups of seeds that you put in a plastic bag for just £2 a scoop which is quite a lot of seeds.

Cucumbers are nice if you like them to grow and potatoes you can even grow them in bags as well as the ground, sweetcorn takes a while to grow but taste good.

Pick veg you like to eat though if not wasted or sell to others

I have never grown hebes from seed only from cutting of plants in my garden or brought them from garden centres.

Cuttings are easy to do and I like growing them that way

Do you like hebes?

I would like the Cosmos purity seeds to swap with you.  I will message you with my address.

Hello Bjay,  I would like to swap the white campion seeds for the sweet pea Spencer special mix  if possible.  I will message you my address if you give me yours.

Hello Cottage Garden Fairy,

I sow aquilegia seeds in March/April time, in small pots in my plastic greenhouse and plant when large enough, they then flower the following year.

Hello joyce

I have seeds that sometimes are out of date - but as long as they are keept dry they should be ok.

I keep mine in old candy floss pots ( plastic sealed pots)

Where do you seed swap?

Have you got any seeds you want to swap?
