That sounds a lot of work 2 acres, but a lot of space to grow a lot of plants, how big is that in metres?

Do you have different coloured areas in the garden?

Hello nutcutlet

My flower count is done now - I have in my front garden only the yellow Kerria Japonica in flower, the back garden still the Bacopa cabana white the Antirrhinums and yellow violas, also pink and purple Heathers, Hebe white don't know the name of this one and Hebe Lisa pink few bits flowering, yellow cowslip bit and a bit of yellow primrose and in another hanging basket a purple- blue- yellow viola mixed pretty. Not a flower but cornus dogwood looks nice and red in the garden.

So quite a few things in flower first time ever have gone out to flower count.

Thanks for the thread

Are the flowers still out today in your garden?

Composting and wormery

Hi Sam

Been out sorting out a few buckets of veg scraps and other bits today into compost bin, compost outside filling up nicely did notice a hole in one compost bin a rat maybe but not there when I put compost in- sure it must have just popped in for a bit of food and left

Have you sorted out your compost heap a bit more?

Rats would dig holes to go under compost so you would probably see holes going into the compost area. Sure they would rush away fast as would be scared.

You could have a small bin/ bucket that you put in veg scraps indoors or just outside your house - then you don't need to walk to the compost heap all the time when the bin/ bucket a bit fuller put in you compost heap. You don't put cooked food in normally but if you have a wormery you can - (strange)

Make sure you protect your veg as slugs like to eat it away before you get it I find using plasic large water bottles with the bottom cut off that helps keep slugs away from the small plants - keeping the lid on, the plants can then grow on a bit when they are still young, pop up netting is good from http://www.pippagreenwood.com/products/protect-your-crops

What is you best veg you like to eat?
