My cold frame nearly there been building it for the last few days

GWRS think there must of been too much goodness in the soil for the carrots to make more growth in the top leaves

still nice and mild here

Hello all

I have been feeding the birds today and squirrels, the birds here are eating the peanut and mixed seeds and fat balls, one of my feeder attracts the pigeon and doves, have blue tits on the peanuts feeders, just after I put the food out a black bird was there

I was watching out the window the other day and 3 squirrels were running around the garden over the wall and in to next doors (the joint house) garden playing around under there apple tree

Been sorting out my cold frame building over the last few days getting there still a bit to go

Q who has cold frame  -

what do you have in the bottom i.e. sand, grit ?

I will have weed matting at the bottom  -

Do you have any insulation in there i.e. polystyrene sheets

I want to keep the sweet peas and dahlia tubers in there over winter any advice grateful

The apprentice final is on tonight

Dove amazing you saw Bob Flowerdew when you where shopping you could of got him to sign something

Zoomer not sure seaweed don't really have beaches around here for that may try pellet form, good point about watering the potatoes, I did use a hose which tap water has got lime in - maybe I will stick to water butt water

Raspberry's I meant cut down to ground level not grown level, sometimes you can tell if they are summer ones as the old canes will be really twiggy which would get cut away

Fruitcake sounds as though you are well prepared with your seed sowing areas - I find I run out of room for seedlings, I did start with one grow house 4 tier then got 2 5 tier ones and now have a nursery raised bed to grow seedlings on before planting out

Roy shame the lady won't be coming back but that is an experiment for you to try out - if you are thinking of cut flowers you could have a look at the local GC's and see if they have any bulbs going cheep to plant out now time
