This forum was such a tradition, wasn't it? - though I'm a relative newbie and didn't use it much. You could see that people had great relationships. There are a few other chat threads now, which are continuing the tradition, and several conversations going on at the same time. Time-consuming but fun!

If n o-one responds to a post of mine, I do feel a bit rejected. Childish and foolish and insecure, I know. However, I know rationally that it is accidental and related to who is online and what else is going on. I'm not complaining, just pointing out that to feel that way is perfectly human and natural. Really, there is a lot of goodwill on this forum and that it is actually very welcoming and friendly. There's also a lot of expertise and some friendly fun as well.

Thanks for the link, blackest. I have installed the addon, since I always use firefox. i really like it and have found it more stable than Internet explorer. I already had the one that makes cookies self-destruct.

MMP, I've been with the so-op bank for 50 years and have always found them excellent. It's the bank with the highest level of customer satisfaction.

MORNING FORKERS

Gorgeous kittens, BPK!

Tina, I agree. Kick ass! I have found, when disciplining wayward OH,  that if I make up my mind he is going to do something, he does it meekly. I don't have to nag - think he takes one look at my face! If I haven't yet made up my mind, he senses it and takes no notice of me.

Blackest, the water situation is one that can be a limitation or an opportunity. Are the beer cans at the back of the fridge?

PP and FG, we three 20 somethings are in our prime. Maybe we should call ourselves the Gardening Supremes.

Matty, indulge yourself and take a rest. I've abandoned my gardening plans, cleaned out cupboards this morning and will get out the summer clothes this afternoon, putting away the winter ones. This will lead to an orgy of washing and ironing and a nice glow of self satisfaction, all in the optimistic hope that summer will eventually come.

To anyone I've missed - hope the day goes as planned and find a bit of time to spoil yourselves. Dove has talked so much about bara brith that I'm making some later, together with a meat pie for tomorrow. Won't hold my breath for a weight loss at Fat Club next Tues.

Hi, NH. I presume you mean outside in the garden. When there's no further risk of frost or very cold winds, so something depends on where you live. They are better off inside at the moment.

Welcome, Salli. Watched GW yesterday with half an eye because it did not seem that inspiring. I'll watch it again on Sunday morning when I'm more alert. Perhaps I was just tired.

I'm more interested in the Welsh spelling of your name, Salli. Your background sounds really interesting and I see that you live in Wiltshire.

Cake in the garden, then? bara brith sounds like a first class idea, FG, generously buttered for me, please.

Today I feel so happy....

Sitting here looking at the sunlight through the windows makes me happy. What a difference a change in the light makes! I first became really aware of this when I regularly made a half hour drive along the M4 and some country lanes to work. Because of the direction of the drive, I drove frequently into glorious sunrises and sunsets. (Good thing my eyes are strong!) In the early mornings after rain, mist rose from the fields like smoke, beautiful and eery in the sunlight. Winter hedges that looked dismal and dank in cloudy weather lit up with beauty when the sun came out.  For the first time, I undertood what artists meant when they wrote that they lived and painted in certain areas like Cornwall because of the quality of the light.

But I know what I WOULD like to rant about! Those blasted talking ads on some threads of this forum! There's a button for switching them off, put it works only for a few seconds! Utterly irritating!
