Summer has arrived

Posted: 19/06/2013 at 10:04

my verbascums got blown down by the strong wind last week as well as my tall alliums.. everything flat on the ground.

as for summer.. it is longest day next week... and the weather doesnt seem to have done as it should for this time of year..my cosmos seedlings are only just starting to bush out and no flowes yet.. my rudbeckias are only 5 ins tall and flowering already..my wallflowers are still flowering so havnt taken them out to replace with the rudbeckias like normally do yet.

Excited, excited, excited!

Garden DESTROYED!?

Posted: 19/06/2013 at 09:58

it may have been birds.. i say this as i left tray of potted up plants on my table.. and next day all the pots were up and the plants were out and right mess everywhere

i think it was the pigeons fighting.. as htey do that alot here.

and if they got in the water it is amazing how it can be emptied after a flurry like that..

and they left nasty scratch marks all over my cars bonnet paint work after as well..

Rat problem

Posted: 18/06/2013 at 12:32

they are a problem.. live near railway line and always about and ruddy large ones too.

we use bait and air rifle.. take a shot and they dont come back for some time..

if you have composter then bang it every day as they dont like noise and leave it open to get rained on.. as they dont like it very wet either.

if you are on benefits you can get the rat trap man to come in and do it for free or for a fiver i neighbour had them in few years back and they trapped ours too.. said if you take out a colony it will take 3 years for them to build up again.

i also use white vinegar for my cleaning.. it is amazing.. mixed with bleach (thou pongs and open all windows) it can be pasted on the grout and rinse after time and whoopie!! clean and white and fresh.
