foxgloves

i love foxgloves and grow them every year.. mine are still in green house will palnt htem after xmas...

i have found to keep slugs off plants if you dont want to use pellets.. is to lay all your ol lettuce leaves and cabbage etc round the plants.. t hey eat these instead.. by time get to end of them they are full.. i have been doing that for that last few months and it seems to be working.. and it saves it goin in food waste bin.. but the composter misses them..

but it is worth the loss to keep my plants safe.

some great pictures everyone.. love them.. i rescued a bat other day on my patio and took it to bat hospital.. it was totally balled up in cobwebs.. they came  back to release it tonight.. it was a 1 year old female and weighed in at a healthy 6gms.. so happy she survived.

Do you have to have pick out points...

sorry been so long getting back.. thank you all for your replies i would probably go towards the informal look.. and try to keep colours that mix together well.. mostly be pinks, red, purples, blues, with a bit of different colour thrown in along certain points.

@bjay. thanks for those tips.. i was thinking what would be best to grow over the frame work when up..

Do you have to have pick out points...

yeah i know..forgot.. not been on for some time.. brain like a sieve me

i am asking if it has to planted in a way that has one plant at points along the path to tie it in.. i have read that this is the best way down a path.. but wonder if it will tie in with the none formal borders i have..and does it have to be mirror planting on each side

Blackbirds

i am a avid bird watcher too. i love them youc an spend all day watching them and their antics.. i must admit the wood pigeons are the funniest.. when you get 2 fellas after one lady the fun starts.. they do make me laugh as do the jackdaws.. who have learnt how to get the seed out.. by going up and undoing the metal hook that holds the feeder on and hence droping it to the ground of they give it a mighty shake and out it comes..

the blackbirds are good on the feeders now..thou i leave some of the fallen apples for them to feed on.. we have loads of sparrows and starlings. and a 2 pairs of robins.. who often fight if come at same time. but this year we have not had many green finches.. so bit worried about them.

i really could spend all day watching them.. they are brilliant.

when to take fuschia cuttings

@gold1locks.. that is great.. i tend to end up with loads.. so sell extra off. so far i have made enough to do my gardening for free..

thou at the moment i have a huge pile up of plants waiting to go inthe new borders we are laking next year..

squirrels

i am afraid where i live near a railway line.. rats are a common problem.. so we got an air rifle.. it sorts them out.. have to keep on top of them..

Nigel

if nigel is not well then maybe we should leave monty alone to deal with it.. most of us are all to aware of how they become part of the family and it is hard to deal with when they are ill.. maybe it is just to upsetting for Monty to talk about..
