Is it ever going to STOP!!!!

Posted: 22/06/2012 at 10:42

wellthis rain has broughtthe island to a total standstill with the bloomin gfestival traffic..it took hubby 7 hours to do a 13mile trip home.. normal time 30mins.. and nothig could move as the field was muddy and cars couldnt get in.. blerdy ridiculous.. the stage was closed for while last night due to rain and high winds.. just cancel it i say.. and it is going to get worse over the weekend.. poor children were stuck at one school until 8pm last night as parents couldnt get in to pick them out.. and staff couldnt get in to work at hosipital or anywhere within 10 mile radius of newport.

and the poor students who have missed their exams today as traffic is is still blocked all night.. some one on radio had come from scotland and been driving since 5am yesterday morning are still sat in the car waiting.. i would have gone home yesterday..

so with more rain and high winds forecast for us over sat night and sunday.. it is not looking good.. my plants have been battered to death inthe last few weeks..i have also had enough of the weather..

slug pellets

Posted: 21/06/2012 at 09:48

well... the lard one is a wash out.. got wash off and dispersed in the soil in beds also.. but the vaseline one is going strong and i have 3 half dead slugs at bottom of my pots with hostas in.. and 5 snails.. little blighters..  so it may have worked.. will check again tomorrow..

slug pellets

@joslow.. the pots and the slughs etc themselves... not the plants sorry didnt make that clear..

but on our raised veg plot hubby made himself this year.. he painted the inside of the wood with some bitchamen (not sure on spelling) on inside of the wood and the tops to stop rot.. and the slugs dont like it.. he has not had one slug on his patch this year.. so that is idea for raised beds..

but i made up some of the lard and salt rub last night and also did some with vaseline and put that on my pots and the lard i rubbed until crumbs and put round the plants in the ground.. will let you know how it worked going to look now while i think about it...

though bare in mind that this was a messy job to do..

@wintersong.. yes you are right.. any bit of space he allows me is good thou he was trying to get me to allow veg in amoungst my flowers... how dare he i did say "if you allow me flowers out the back.. you can have veg in the front" wasnt up for that was he so we are as we are.. i dont mind.. i just want a bigger garden my lawn gets smaller every year.. which i tell him is good less for him to mow each time.

@Gary.. your garden is beautiful.. love that deep red clematis.. and your foxgloves still looking dandy and  your confused view one is what mine looks like.. all colours together in harmony.

what is that large green leafed plant by the back pole of the wooden frame work called..

Where have all the birds gone?

Posted: 21/06/2012 at 09:27

davidK .. that infor doesnt surprise me.. the cat down the road used to kill birds in my garden everyday.. i stuck spikes in the ground to stop them sitting under the undergrowth..that was t here for the birds protection form sparrow hawk to water spray and every thing else.. but the one thing that has stopped it coming in.. is the seagull nesting on my flat roof.. though i am getting fed up with them waking me up at 3am everymorning.. i will tolerate it as they keep it away

domestics cats are a damn nusiance.. not only taking birds but messing in the veg plot and digging up anywhere that has just been weeded out in ther.. they drive me mad..
