@obelixx. exactly.. it doe not seem to have much gardenin back bone this year.. carol has been out visitng all time.. hardly any time in her garden this year.. and monty has not shown much at all.. one week it sad show how to take cuttings from fuschia.. but he didnt show it and i have not seen it at all on any others,

something has to change in the show.. it is only 30mins long as it is so to waste it going round seeing peoples gardens  with loads of money and space. is no good to me at all.. i want to see hwo to grow and to cope and as you say all aspects of gardening..

Talkback: Make the most of a greenhouse in autumn

Posted: 15/11/2013 at 15:03

i must admit i bring all my small seeded plants and non hardy plants indoors to the spare bedroom.. Hubby gets annoyed with me.. but hey i just tell him "if they die i will ahve to go some replacements" and he lets it be

but i have side one on house and it keeps warm for the heat of the house also.. but i dont keep much in greenhouse except for fuschias, agapanthus, and terracota pots.

i did insulate mine one year with bubble wrap.. hubby not impressed with that job.. ut to be honst it go so much condensation.. it was worse that no insulating and my plants died.. so i dont bother anymore..

@patty3.. i have to agree.. he comes along with shrubs and roses and plants in barrow loads, and you can see they come from garden centre.. and i cant afford that.. most of all my plant have come from growing from seed or cuttings..

As much as i lvoe MOnty he does forget that not all of us have gardens as large as an airfield!! and i must say not happy it is last show toady of GW. it doesnt seem to have been so good this year.. too much going off and looking at stuff and not enough actual gardening

@still learning.. to stop the crows and that in yr garden.. get a pice of cork or something you can stick feathers into.. gather up black and grey feathers stick them in it and hang it in the tree not too close to the feeders thous.. this has worked n my garden... also dont put food out on easy reach feeders.. use one with small perches they cant get ont them.. thou they give it a good damn go..

Too late to plant my bulbs?

Posted: 15/11/2013 at 14:44

can i ask about planting tulips.. i have several bags to plant.. and as my garden is under construction at mo I am planting htem in 9cm pots one to each.. now this is great as i can then plant them in their pots where i want them when my borders are ready.. hopefully!!!..

but i want to ask.. when they are finished can i take them out and split the bulbs.. i have had deflicking info on this.. one said just keep the main bulb and the biggest one next to it, one said keep only the big one next to main bulb.. and throw away the others.

Which do i keep.. and pot on for next year.. the main bulb planted now, will it ever flower again..and is it ok to bury the pots in the ground then lift them after flowering is over.?
