Greenhouse electrified!

Thank you for the replies, could of done without the scarky 'need to ask the question' one but heck you em' in all forums I suppose.

Seems I will indeed seek out the more expensive root then, of an electrician, at least it will be a secure, permanent fixture serving heating, lighting and seed trays etc.

thanks again

Greenhouse electrified!

Hello there,

I am hoping against hope that some kind soul out there may be able to give me some advice.

I want a waterproof plug for my greenhouse - simple enough request but not certain how i go about it.

My greenhouse sits about 20cm from my garage. There is a hole in my garage, and i have made a hole at the bottom of my greenhouse. So basically just needing a wire to pass through - it will be exposed for those 20cm, obviously it will be on the ground of the greenhouse.

So..whats the best setup? Any thoughts? My plug in the garage works ok..shall i house the wire for those 20cm? in the hope water doesnt get in?

Main concern i suppose is once its in the greenhouse, it has to sit on the floor of the greenhouse initially where the hole is...whats the best cause of action?

I have looked on amazon etc for waterproof plugs...

thoughts more than welcome.

thanks

My acer was doing very well indeed. Then i left it in the convervatory where a month back it seemed to love..and now..with a weeks heat..the leaves literally are burnt - white. Have planted it out into the garden and hope for the best. All white/black leaves.

greenhouse leaks

Yes it was me. Tempted to repost photos - but a hassle with uploading to youtube.

Upsidedown? I will have to examine others.  the 'V'' are  like this ( two of them one above the other i think. )

Thanks for the reply. Will have to look again. Need to get this sorted. Even leaks at the cement base..water coming in when it rains. Was going to put guttering down at the edges. But its the roof that is the main problem.

Still standing though!

Poured water on top of greenhouse and note leaks in through the very top. Just curious - should the glass meet exactly on that large top rail of a greenhouse. My rail has - something like 2 lips sticking out..but the glass is sitting under the two lips..so naturally any water is just falling through.

Now i did 'test' is with a water hose..pouring directly onto it..but just curious as to how a greenhouse is set up?

Expensive Monkey Tree going brown at the edges...

Posted: 02/07/2013 at 13:09

Smallish wee chap but still cost me £20. I know will take 10 yrs at least to grow..but would like to know why, since I have planted it in the ground from it's pot, has the edges curled up a little and i note day by day tipss are going brown.

I throw in bits n pieces, seaweed, potash, fish, blood etc etc Ergon. compost....i know perhaps too much  good stuff could be a shock for the thing.

Any thoughts though? Dont want him to die off.

Not that Ive seen a lot around at the moment - clearly a wet summer overhere is keeping them at bay.

But, when they do come out, any ideas on plants flies dont like...and herbs?

I HATE CATS!!

Never liked em' - not proper pets anyway. I have actually had one and appreciate they can be quite cute. However,

I have about 3 cats coming and going in my garden. I am armed with a watergun and have tried cat spray. It annoys me greatly seeing them jumping about amongst my plants particularly the ones i plant to eat such as blueberry, rasp canes etc...and caught them spray there too.

A raised bed ive thought of and do have a few in the garden. But any other suggests? My dad has an automatic ( selfmade ) sprinkler which goes off when they walk about..but aside from going to those measures?

Thoughts? And simple spray..or plant scent they dont like? I can place near fences?

Something to block out sound of neighbours voice!

Wellies - I speak from experiance ( sadly ) and the worst! thing you can do is let them know they annoy you. Chances are they will be the type of ingrates who don't give a stuff anyroad so you tackling the situation head on will only make things a 100x worse. And - worse still - the fact you have tackled it and it continues means will ache on your mind until the day you or they move..every single sound that comes from 'them' will be intensified as though it was a delibrate attempt make a noise..even on the occasions it may not of been. Honestly. best not let on and instead make your own noise ( in the hope perhaps 'they' may complain about you and an amicable agreement can be agreed. )
