Compost...

Can I have people's best advice at how to reuse/reenergise compost from the tubs and pots I used for my spring bulbs??? I know I could just put it in a compost bin and restart the process but I haven't got one!!! (I'm not good enough a gardener yet!!).

Wild Flower Planting

Hi all, I need some advice or direction on where to get seed packs of mixed wild flowers in varying colour. I have a reasonably sized meadow that I really can't be bothered to mow this year!!! I intend dividing it up into blocks and planting wild flowers in varying block colours and then just keep the 'pathways' between mowed. Any help or direction would be welcomed.

Calling all Muscari Armeniacum (Grape Hyacinth) Experts

Can anybody give me some advice regarding Grape Hyacinths??? I am getting married on April 6th and my fianc?? has decided that she would like to give GH's as favors for the ladies (they match the bridesmaids dresses!!!). Can anyone suggest when I should plant the bulbs so that they are blooming (or nearly there) by April. I will be potting the bulbs individually in 6cm/ 21/4 fibre pots and putting the, outside on the patio... Any advice welcome!!!

We decided to move house....

Guess what... Three flower buds have appeared!!!

Luckily we are letting our house so it should mature nicely now and we can enjoy it periodically - i darent move it!!!

Lupin varieties with fragrance

I was walking along the cliffs in North Norfolk and came across 5 huge Lupin bushes about 7-10 feet across. The thing that struck me was of course the size, as I'd never seen them so big before but the fragrance of the plant was amazing. None of the Lupins in my garden have a fragrance at any point of the year so I wonder if there are specific varieties that do have??? Any ideas welcome.

Magnolia Grandiflora

I have a Magnolia Grandiflora in the garden and its not flowering... It was in the garden when we moved in so not sure how established before but it hasn't flowered for 4 years and is about 3-4 feet high.

Any ideas??? Its in a north facing but sheltered garden. I mulch with farmyard compost twice a year and top up with chicken manure pellets during the spring/.summer.
