When you plant a root vegetable. What yields should I expect. Does one plant produce one root vegetable or does it produce many.

I.e if I have one beetroot plant will I get 1 or more beetroot?

Cheers

Wasn't expecting peppers, just thought there might of been some sort of shoot poking its head out by now

Decided the other week I wanted to grow peppers so I salvaged some from a pepper from Asda. Left them in the window a while and planted them about a fortnight ago.

So far nothing has appeared through the compost. Have I dropped a clanger?

i.e should I have just bought seeds or not dried them out in the window?

Cheers

Moneys a little tight having only recently moved in to my own house (I'm 24 btw).

I bought some cheap home and garden compost from poundstretcher and it's full of sticks and bits of trees.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing and should I be picking the sticks out when putting the compost into my pots like I have been doing?
