Thank you Bob I have an idea they were saved seeds ...They are butternut shape but a very dark green colour .... I will keep fingers cross they change ... x

Thankyou Italophile ... They are quite big some of them.  Do I have to do anything to make them ripen ... Ive taken some leaves away like my pumpkins so the sun can see them.

I planted my nasturtiums too close to my veg bed for companion planting.  They attracted so many white butterflies they laid eggs on kale and brussels through net on touching leaves ... managed to pick off most caterpillars but not before they had made a lot of holes.  Decided just marigolds and borage next year.  Live and learn x

Why have my Butternut squashes Green ?? Someone gave me the seed were they not the correct ones?? Havent tried cooking them yet is there a big difference on taste ?  Thank you all

Lady Butternut it is my first year growing them so any advice brill x

fabulous....... I seem to attract cabbage white in my veg patch who has given me lots of caterpillars

Never mind next year I will be better prepared plant well away from the net so they cant get their eggs laid but I will make sure that part of the garden will have a special place for them xx

thanks folks ive just seen someone plant them at least 2 metres away but I think I might plant them more then that next year perhaps in pots and 5-6 metres away more like.  Theyve crept from the natusiums onto other brassicas slipping through the net when they are tiny caterpillers grrrrr  little blighters
