Fork Handles

Just been trying to do a bit of a catch-up peeps. It takes some doing when you have been off it for a while

Jean, what a ghastly time for you and well done grandson - what a sweetie.

Isn't this weather depressing....just when we all want to get out there and tend our patches?

Have finally retrieved my camera from son in London which I might say he hardly used so he said as too cold to take off gloves!

Btw loved the wheelbarrow race in Kenya. Shall we introduce that to the UK? I am doing the Race for Life with friends in July which seems seasons away at the moment

Monty Don's French Gardens

Plumbob, like you I watch any gardening progrmame to learn but sadly as a child had no father to teach me but hey I seem to be able to manage and what I achieve  I get a lot of pleasure from.

Btw I have yet to manage to stay awake for Monty's programme on Friday evening. Too late in the evening for my attention span obviously . I do like him but on the subject of Monty feel that his other programme should be more tailored to peeps with limited means. Does anyone else feel that?

What's the weather like in your area?

Dismal day here in Cambridge - still, on the bright side it does mean I get quite a lot of house jobs done in the dry .

It was sunny but cold here earlier and then as the day wore on it clouded over and I believe we have rain and possibly snow to look forward to during the night .

I made one last night and it was yummy. It will be re-heated tonight served with a nice dollop of strawberry jam.

In this sort of weather I want comfort food - anyone else feel the same?

Garlic and what to do next....

Posted: 06/02/2013 at 17:14

Geoff, you don't know how cold my kitchen is! But I shall follow your advice when it has stopped blowing a gale force wind, raining, sleeting and snowing and get them into the ground soonest.

Manic, where are you in the UK? Cambridge here and rotten weather but I am sure it will eventually improve .

Geoff, is this the right thread for a garlic topic? He'll know what I am talking about.

Like you, Manic, mine went into pots in my freezingly cold kitchen (as I missed the boat in the autumn) and are now a good 5" tall but I have also read not to put them out yet but keep them in a darkish spot still in freezing kitchen!

Afternoon Forkers, hope I am on the right thread!

Sun shining here at the moment but very cold and windy so I am staying indoors!

If you don't come in here for a day or two it takes ages to catch up on all the news so......I do hope all those who haven't been well are fully recovered, some less sad and everyone really geared up for the big event that is surely on the horizon some time soon......SPRING .

I have just had home-made leek (mine) and potato soup for lunch and although I am saying it myself it was delicious - pat on the back for me

Yes, I watched MB and found it tragic about her son. She is really a wonderful person I thought too - so sweet and encouraging to all her pupils. I doubt if she ever says an unkind word ever in any circumstance. Would you agree with that?

Need to get back to my knitting on which I have to really concentrate not being very good.

Take care one and all and keep warm and healthy
