Fork Handles

I'll be happy with colder, as long as it's dry.

I think I'm growing gills.......

Been to the allotment and planted the currants. It's horribly sticky down there again, after being not too bad at the beginning of the week - stuck to my fork, stuck to my spade and stuck to my boots. I was nearly in tears.....

Then it started raining.

But at least I managed to dig up a baby thorn tree that I've had marked down since I moved in! And a big clump of ornamental grass - I think it's Stipa tenuissima, or similar - which I shall give to the chap who gave me the manure. Much as I like grasses, the allotment is not the place for it. Although I do plan a bit of a flower patch as I have no garden at home.

The sun is shing here after a couple of days of rain, so I shall nip down to plant my currant bushes in the allotment. Might need to visit the GC - this one is about 200yards from my flat.....

Currant bushes

Thanks, Bob.

I shall get them in today while it's not raining - for once! Need some netting to stop the deer nibbling the buds as well, so I shall have to go to the garden centre.....

I have a blackcurrant and a redcurrant to plant on my allotment - clay soil and still rather sticky down here on the Somerset Levels after all our flooding.

I have read that you should cut the shoots down to three buds when you have planted them. Any advice on this? I have some manure to put round them after they are planted, as per what I have read.

Morning, folks.

Just slurping down a cup of tea before I go to visit a Young Man who has a bag of manure for me - oh, the romance......

I don't have a telly, B-L, but there is a thread about the new GW prog.

I am really bad at buying anything for myself....sigh.

And I really must get myself some new shoes (it's desperate as my work ones are in tatters) and office clothes so should take myself off to Clarks Village at Street this weekend.

I HATE clothes shopping, especially shoe shopping.

Excellent idea - I'll buy myself some flowers, but after Sunday when they will be selling them off cheap!

Sounds as though they all love you and are thinking of you, Rosa. That's what it's all about isn't it?

Got a global email at work a few days ago from the horti department who offer planted flower baskets for such occasions saying 'It's not too late for Mother's Day'. My comment was that it is about 16 years too late for me! Sorry - not meant in anything other than a jocular way. Made my work colleagues laugh.......
