I've put sages, 4 of, thymes, 3 of, 2 parsleys & a lemonbalm in an oak barrell with JI 3 & a grow bag mixed together. I think the bottom was JI 3. They are all thriving too.
Premier seeds direct, an ebay shop is really good. Cheap P&P & lots of seeds per pkt. They do some heritage varieties too.Great for sharing & swapping. Wyevale go down to 50p & then 20p.
Swap shop is a great idea, especially for the seedaholics amongs us. Not that I'm one of course.
The wrong seeds in the packet wouldn't be a first but not freebies. I bought some 100s & 0000s seeds. They were not cheap. Lovely basket toms with lots of fruit. They grew into 4' plum tomatoes plants that tasted yucky.
I was amazed a couple of years ago when our daughters plot neighbour asked if we would like some blackcurrant cuttings. He handed us an armful about August time. Said to put them in a bucket of water & they would root, wshich they did. I did the same with whitecurrant prunings & have a bucket full all in leaf & very healthy. You learn something every day.
I have recently bought GJ & Falstaff & the label says they are both climbers too. Depends how they are pruned.
The side shoots will root & sometimes can even catch up the mother plant.
I had Piilu in a hanging basket but OH thought it was twigs when he was having a clear out & out it went. That looks lovely David. I might have to treat myself.
That's what I was wondering Obelixx. GJ is now planted, still contemplating Falstaff. I have a huge pot, do you think it would be OK in a pot?
I recently bought Gertrude Jekyll & Falstaff, Would it be best to plant them in different areas, would the perfumes clash or compliment each other?
