Raised Bed Liners

Posted: 03/11/2017 at 19:10

Looks brilliant, I'm planning on making a couple more square shaped less deep ones this Autumn as I have now got some more wood to use.

Just got to decide what to put in them!

I didnt line the base as I put it straight onto an unused grass. But I'm sure if you made a slatted base for yours and lined base and sides , but ensure you punch drainage holes into base lining ,you should be ok. By the way, no need for expensive pieces of liner , just save up your compost bags . Staple them to the edges , base and bobs your uncle.

Good luck. Lisa

I've just made this from old bits of wood. Lined sides with weed suppressant polythene ( not the porous membrane) to protect wood from soil, I have painted exposed wood inside and out with cuprinol. Can't wait to plant it up.

Thanks pansyface, I already have red roses, fancy some pink or white if possible. I do have clotted cream jasmine which might look nice as well as climbing Mrs booth by fuschia?

They have flowered already, its just the leaves..just wondered if this was the natural cycle. There aren't any buds left. And stems and leaves don't look rotten.

the leaves on my oriental lilies in pots outside have turned yellow. Is this normal for autumn? Should I overwinter them in an unheated greenhouse or are they ok outside?
