Mike , I agree , like wood fires , have still got an open fire place Fire and burn lots of free wood , do have to buy coal , very expensive . You can smell a Fire , when walking down the village High street  , one of our local pubs always have a real Fire , can't best it

Hello , I'm from Birmingham and yes very good 21 years , moved around with job now in semi-rural Lincolnshire for last 30 years

Do go back occasionally visit family or Conferences  at Internal Convnsion Centre Broad St but i do like where I live now and would not want to move back

It is what you make it

Gardengirl , interseting use of tins , must remember that for the future

I tend to use tiolet  roll tubes a lot , bean , peas ect

Roy need to get rid of those potatoes and wireworms as you seem to have alot

If you are looking for plants , depending on soil and where in the country you are you could put in winter cabbage plants but they will need protecting and I put a bit of lime in the soil for them

Also winter onions and garlic can still go in

When I got an allottment got a couple of books , always make an easy Christmas present one on Allottments generally and another what to do month by month

Have a look around the site to see what others are growing and if your lot are as friendly as mine just ask people for advise

Happy allottmenteering

Personally I do use the odd the chemical occasionally in the Garden and Allottment

My garden is full of wildlife

I use Bone Meal , is that not a chemical ?

I think a balanced approach is the way forward which is what I do but everybody to there own ways
