Sprouts....a pain in the posteria!!!

Posted: 20/07/2014 at 20:35

Leave the sprouts , I had a similar problem last year and I just left them and had some great sprouts for Christmas , worth a try

With the Brocoli if you cut off the flowers you might get some side shoots that are eatable again worth a try

Best of luck

cutting back tree branches

Hello , they say don't do anything drastic for the first year in your garden to see what grows ? If it is really bad why not just cut a few smaller branches yourself and try and make the trees a feature . Lots of plants like shade , just look on G/W site

You want to check where the sun rises , mid day and sets to see what you can do

Best of luck

Hello , the allotment next to mine covered freshly dug ground with huge amounts of horse manure , it held back the weeds for about 6 month , then they came through with renewed bigger , take care !

have you considered digging a ditch down to the stream  / bog garden and filling with rubble ? to help drainage , could even be made into a path

best of luck

horsetail weed

Interesting we have just taken on the other half of our allotment and it had some horsetail

having read up about it , it seems a problem and the the 2 bits of advice I have been given 1 - cover  and 2 - repeated weed killer

best of luck

Weeds covered all over my slate chippings

Hello , if you have not got time to put a membrane down you could just use weed killer that kills the roots of the weeds , you will then use some path clear stuff regularly

If you can see soil or membrane you need more slate putting down

you will always get seeds germinating in the slate which needs pulling out or spraying

best of luck

garden help for someone on a budget and a novice to boot

Hello , welcome to home and garden ownership , the picture you put on looks OK to me.

Having moved a few times the advice of leaving it for a year to see what happens during

Summer , Autumn , Winter and Spring is good advice , what you could do is see what your neighbours grow and perhaps visit some garden for inspiration , I'm sure you'll have plenty to do any way

best of luck
