Davesaat , it is a good idea to have a walk around and see what other grow and how , also have a chat , I have had some really good advise that way

Although you do get some old wives tales but that's what makes gardening interesting

I also got some books on Allottments from charity shops and The Works , one of these discount book shops

Just had some bad news from Allottment Secretary , it appears that last night the site was vanderlised , 2 sheds burnt down , greenhouses smashed , doors kicked in , power tools NOT taken , will need to go up there tommrow afternoon and have a look !

Can understand theft but vanderlism no

Davesaat , hello your plot sound like the other half of mine that I took on last year

What you do depends on how much time you have but I would definitely do a section at a time rather than try and do it all in one go . People tend to give up because they try and do to much in one go and get disheartened . Sounds like you need the a bigger plot and the other one could be just as bad !

with the carpet , that was the last bit I took up because at least it stops the weeds underneath , the plastic unusually adds nothing but watch out I had mice living under mine and others on the site had rats under carpet

I used to go to the local tip each week with rubbish that I couldn't burn , so buy a fire dustbin

this a good site for practical ideas , it certainly helps me

best of luck

Good evening everybody , sounds like we all had a good day

had a little drive to a community wood then to a nature reserve and managed to pick enough sloe berrys for sloe gin , vodka and port

putting them in freezer until next month , by freezing them , they split when they defrost so no need to prick them
