Surprise tomato plant!

Posted: Yesterday at 19:36

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days - just very busy!  My tom plant is now about 14" tall.  I've taken a couple of pics, and since then I have pinched out the sideshoots.  What I'm concerned about is the white marbling on the leaves.  Should I be worried?

Thanks for all the advice.  I will also have a look at the RHS site, Alan.

Advice please for a cuttings newbie!

I have never taken cuttings before, mainly because I haven't had anything to cut from!  I know there is plenty of advice around in magazines and the web, but some of it is conflicting and I know you lovely people won't mind giving me the fruit of your experience. I'm wanting to multiply my plants of Penstemon "Raven" and Dianthus "Memories".  I need to know all the ins and outs - cut above or below node, size of pot, best compost, grit or no, plastic bag over top? Not asking much, am I?

Surprise tomato plant!

I have never grown tomato plants, but one has appeared in a bed below my kitchen window.  I have a theory about how it got there.  Some time ago part of the external wastepipe that comes from my kitchen sink got detached at the joint, so that for a couple of days all the waste water etc. was gushing over the flowerbed.  Well, I do eat quite a lot of tomatoes of one particular variety, so if it fruits the chances are it would be an Asda Aromatico cherry tomato plant.  It is about 9" high at the moment and growing fast, but neither the soil or the position is ideal.  So I need some advice on size of pot, type of compost, staking(?), feeding and watering please.  There are little pairs of leaves forming in the leaf axils.

Such a beautiful plant, sitting there in its pot, so I want to plant it in the right place.

Hogweed it is quite small - about 9" high - and I only put it in the garden 5 weeks ago, so I don't know if you could call it mature

This is my first ever Hebe and I would like to know how to trim it to get more flowers.  It has been beautiful for the last six weeks, but now the flower spikes are almost over.  Do I cut them off just below the bottom of each one, or does the plant need more drastic pruning?

As if right on cue, this is what popped up on Facebook today.

FledglingFriday??? Do you have a difficult place for planting? Dry shade isn't very inviting but there are plants that will survive and brighten up those dull and dingy corners. Use our Plant Finder to find some great ideas:http://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/search-Form Do you have a favourite shade dweller?

And underneath was a lovely photo of how I hope my anemone will look later this summer
