freaky-clematis

Here is a photo taken on 26th June of a lovely clematis that I have had growing in a pot for several years.

Closeup of one of the flowers below - label long since gone (can anyone identify it?)

But 2 weeks later the next flowers looked like this:

Then I have a newly planted Viticella Venosa Violacea whose buds are opening before the flower has had a chance to form properly - pic below:

and now a new crop of buds on this are even worse - opening when they are really tiny.  What's going on?

I haven't got room for a greenhouse, but would like somewhere to put seedlings, protect half hardies and perhaps grow some tomatoes.  I'd be grateful for any tips about things to consider, and any particular makes you can recommend.  Thank you!

Can I halt the spread of powdery mildew on my sweet peas?

Guess this is a consequence of the lovely hot weather we've been having, but can I limit the damage in any way?  The plants are blooming their  socks off at the moment.  Any tips?

Noooo, don't cut them off - the plant is doing what it loves to do, i.e. growing!  Most new foliage on any plant is a different colour from the older stuff Helen.  I have one just like yours which is making new green shoots and I think it's rather pretty like that.

One lily good, two lilies bad

In early May I planted 3 Lilium Regale in separate pots.  One is absolutely beautiful with 9 strongly scented blooms.  The other two  oh dear!  twisted brown tipped leaves, flowers minute and twisted or nonexistent.  Should I cut them down now?  Are they likely to bloom as normal next year?  I've grown lilies for quite a few years and never had this problem before.

This is a small shrub about 3 feet tall, planted late May. She's such a beautiful blue, and I don't want to lose her!  Any advice?

Buddleja hanging its heads - is this normal?

I have a young buddleja, about three feet tall, planted in June.  I can give it a good drink of an evening, but the following day it's heads will start to droop.  Is this normal, or perhaps due to the prolonged heat?  I don't think it can be thirsty
