Agastache Black Adder

Btw Verdun, am very impressed with the number of different varieties you grow!  Any pics of your favourites?

Now I'm confused   Verdun says they are likely to die if potted up for the winter, and Meerkat says the opposite.  But it could depend on where you live.  I'm in North Yorkshire and the Agastaches were in clay soil which remained wet and shaded for a large part of the winter.

Don't worry rosemummy, we all have our successes and our failures    P'raps it's time to cut your losses and go out and buy a big, healthy plant which already has 3 or 4 leafy stems.  It will cost you more but you should get a good display of flowers next June.

Hadn't thought of slug damage MM.  Perhaps mine didn't die - just got eaten!  What time of the year do the shoots normally begin to appear?  Do you have them in pots all year round, or do you plant them out for the summer months and then repot them in autumn and overwinter them in a cool greenhouse?

Thanks chicky!  When is the best time to take cuttings?

I planted 3 Sarah Bernhardts last Spring.  They were quite tall plants (about 15"), each with 3 leafy stems but no flowers. They are planted in a semi shaded border and this year produced 15 lovely flowers, so hopefully you will get blooms next year rosemummy    Pic of mine below.

I bought three of these last September and they carried on flowering for weeks.  I was looking forward to enjoying them again this year, but by the first week of June they were not showing any signs of life, so I dug them up and replaced them with purple salvias (not nearly as exciting).  I would like some more ABA's for their form, colour and bee friendliness, but I don't want to risk losing them again.  Any advice would be welcome!

What do you think, Dove, should I snip off the remains of the old flowers - like you do with roses to promote a fresh crop?

Very tiny.  Yes, some flowers in each cluster did open a bit.

I had loads of buds on my honeysuckle by early June and was looking forward to lots of flowers and scent.  Unfortunately the buds all dropped off before opening.   Inside them there was a tiny grub.   They did produce some berries.  Should I remove these to promote new shoots and flowers?  I seem to remember that there were two flushes last year.  Also is there anything I can do to stop these critters feasting on the plant in future?
