What are you planting in your pots and containers?

Posted: 05/06/2015 at 22:05

So interesting to hear what you are all growing - such a variety!  Chicky, I love your group of pots - my favourite colours too!  Has anyone else got photos of last summer's containers.  The things I have permanently in pots are lilies, agapanthus, roses, hydrangea and clematis.  I like to ring the changes with  different plants and colours most summers.  Last year my two pots of tuberous begonias were fantastic so I have bought more of those this year.  Am also trying pelargoniums for the first time.

Having been totally underwhelmed by most of the GW mag's ideas for summer containers, I thought we might share some ideas and pics of what has or hasn't worked in the past, and what we're planning for this year. Do you prefer just one variety in a pot ( easy option! ), or are you good at mixtures?  Last year I tried Isotoma on their own, but after a few weeks they looked messy as they are a real chore to try and deadhead.

Anyone have damage from last night's tulmultous weather?

My clematis Prince Charles shoots have taken a battering - lots of broken ones and sad, shrivelling leaves

Photo problems

Posted: 05/05/2015 at 14:34

I tried to attach a photo to a forum post yesterday and a box came up saying: radupload ajax callback error JavaScript invalid content message, and a whole lot more gobbledy gook.  The computer screen froze and there was no visible exit button to click on.  I tried everything I could think of without success, including trying to force quit the application.  I came back to it later, tried Safari Quit Safari, and the message and the GW page disappeared.  Everything was back to normal, much to my relief.

Has anyone else had a similar message when trying to attach a photo to a post?

I'm sorry if I've offended anyone, I didn't mean to.  But I agree with pansyface and SwissSue.  I am a royalist myself and have enjoyed all the baby updates and pictures on the BBC News website. I realise that the gardening community here often likes to chat about other subjects and that is fair enough.  I suppose all I have to do is to ignore those particular threads!

I have been without computer access for nearly two months, at a time when I had so many gardening questions I needed answers to, so it's good to be back!

Right, let's get back to gardening shall we, and leave the royal baby comments for Facebook and Twitter?

Wallflowers all planted.  The variety I got is called Giant Pink.  Disappointed to now discover that Sarah Raven says they are not scented, although several online companies that sell them say they are.    Has anyone on here grown them?

Ww, thanks for the advice and the compliments.  I had never thought of using a square pot to lessen the risk of it being blown over - good one!
