Hello everyone,

It looks like summer has finally arrived - yay!

These guys doing rather well in my garden this year, finally. Not too sure what they are though. I'm thinking some sort of a Geranium? Can anyone I.D. for me please?

If they are Geranium, can I cut them back when they've finished flowering to get another show of flowers this year?

Thanks everyone, I'm really pleased they eat wasps, not a fan of those either. But I need to watch out for the nighttime visits, o/h is manic for having the windows open when it's dark and letting in all manner of bug!

Thank you Nutcutlet.

Even though it seems they're not so aggressive I'm not comfortable with them at all. I'll have to have another look round and see if I can see anything. Of course we may not have a nest, they may just like my garden, I'm in the middle of woodland (sort of) so there could just be a lot in the general area.

Hello everyone, I need your help/advice please.

We're seeing quite a few Hornets the last few days.

I'm seeing conflicting information.

1) Do they sting

2) Are they aggressive?

3) Do they nest on/under the ground or just above ground in eaves etc.

I'm talking about these beasties:

 That isn't my hand!

Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure what they are?

OK Berghill that's comforting to know, thank you. I don't mind them being around so much so long as I know what I'm dealing with, it was more the proximity to the front door. Thank you.

I'm not sure what they are?

Hi all,

Not sure I've dropped this in the right category.

I have several what look like small red bees in my garden, they burrow into the ground, making a perfectly round hole in the centre of a mound of earth.

Are they bees? They are very close to my front door and they're making a fair few holes. Do I need to be worried? Do they sting?

Thank you all and with apologies that I'm still not great on knowing all my bees and whether they're all harmless or now.

Ribies Sanguenium for sure. I have two in my garden and I love them. Mine are the same colour as yours and mine are in full blossom now, one of mine was also in blossom at the end of February. Beautiful aren't they!
