I am having a abundance of baby trees this year too Nut, in addition to the Sycamores, whether I want them or not! The hoiking out continues...

Having an absolute nightmare with Sycamore's myself. There are literally hundreds or baby ones, everywhere! Its backbreaking getting them all out. And then I swear they grow back overnight! Nasty persistent little things they are. Will be hoiking more out tonight. And tomorrow night. And the night after that...

Thank you so much Bob and Dove, I've studied all of the images from the links here and others that I've found, and it seems I have Black Bryony! Where it came from and how it got there I can only surmise but O/H is outside right now inserting very long pole so we can wrap the tendrils around and let is grow up there. Hopefully that way it won't get too out of control. I'm really pleased, lovely red berries in Autumn. Bliss

Hello everyone, I'm looking for some help please.

Can anyone ID these?

I noticed these infiltrators in my garden a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately I've been so busy with other areas that I haven't tended to it and they've got somewhat larger than they were. I'm guessing by the looks of them that they aren't friendly.

I've attached a set of pictures, I hope they are clear enough and give you enough to ID. Essentially, I have several snake like infiltrators in my barked fernery/stumperie area. They certainly weren't there last year so I'm guessing the storms blew them in but they're growing fast. One tendril is now four foot long and has thick leaf growth (unfurled) at the tip, and has further leaf growth at four inch intervals down the length of it. Its presently winding its way through my Hydrangeas and there are several more, smaller ones growing up to join it. I'd really appreciate your help as I suspect I need to get these out quickly.

SweetPea93, head to Wilkinsons if you have one locally, they have so many  gardening tools etc right now and at really low prices. OK they're not going to be the best of the best but they'll be a fraction of the prices that you've seen so far and you'll find something that will help you for sure.

Thanks Bob, I've just been doing some reading on it. Great that it grows in the shade, my garden does get sun, but only full sun in the height of summer for a few hours a day as we're tree lined so there's a certain amount of shade all the time. Its already brightening up my front garden like a beacon! But I'll certainly keep an eye on it and not be afraid to chop it back/down or sideways if it looks as though its taking over. Thank you

Thanks Dove, that's the one I just found on looking in a different place. Its absolutely beautiful. We've just acquired it without knowing what it was or how it grew, so now my challenge is to make it grow like a bush!

MuddyFork, with abject apologies you were quite correct . So much for the famous google!! Found different images and it is most certainly Kerria Japonica, or Japanese Rose as it says and that explains why is looks a bit like Rose to me!  Gold star for Muddy Fork

And thanks to Dove too x
