Good afternoon ladies and gents,

I hope you are all a lot more fortunate with the weather right now than I am - its just awful

I bought this Campanula and Begonia today but have no idea which variety they are. I've had a look at Wisley's web site but there are thousands! Some of which clearly aren't mine and some which like as though they could be, maybe. If you can give me a definite id that would be great. Pics are below. With apologies however I have my idiot head on today and didn't put the flash on so they're somewhat dull but hopefully you'll be able to see clearly enough.

Thanks for your help, Heather

Love your garden back on TV tonight 8pm

If only we all had a Mr. Titchmarsh that would come and "do" for our gardens at exorbitant costs whilst we were out doing the weekly shopping or some such other everyday chore! I do watch (but didn't realise it was back on last night) as I like the concept of the show, but really, in terms of cash outlay completely unachievable and unrealistic for the majority of us which makes me a bit irritated. Most of us don't have that kind of money to splash out on our gardens!

I will Chrissie, no option really since if I took the moss away I really would have bare ground there's so little grass left!

I love moss! When you take the time to look at it, up close and personal, some of it is very pretty! Haven't ever a clue what moss I'm looking at, but I like looking at it and luckily for me I have plenty growing in my garden. Mostly where the grass should be

Ferns

I have oodles of ferns growing in the sun. Not full on stonking sun as my garden can be a little shady but when the sun comes up and over the front its very sunny indeed and my ferns grow there quite happily (I have some growing in shade too and they grow very well but to be honest slower than the ones in the sun!). I relocated some from elsewhere and brought some juvenile ones from the garden centre, so long as you don't let any of them dry out in their first year they do just fine.

Lupins

This is really helpful, I bought a half dead reduced price lupin at the garden centre earlier in the year and its flowered beautifully so I was hoping to get more from it for next year and wasn't sure what to do. Now I know!

Beautiful. So much prettier that my pink geraniums, and so many flowers.

Is this trying to die?

Hi Verdun, thanks. OK pots it is! We're not totally shaded,  we do get sun in the garden but the back gets the sun in the morning and the front in the afternoon up until the height of summer when the sun is at its highest, then we get a good blast all over the garden. I have mostly things that will cope with a mix of sun and shade. The problem is the trees. There are just so many of them! I'm in the perverse situation of having more sun in the garden during the autumn and winter than in the spring and summer!  I thought I'd give these ago though as I couldn't stand to know they'd been abandoned. I'll see how they go.
