unhappy Pieris

Posted: 04/05/2014 at 21:01

I have several pieris & most of them now have sad-looking leaves in varying degrees following the frost. The one beside the front door though is much larger & bushier despite being in a tub & the flowers & new growth are much further developed yet it seems to have emerged unscathed.

Oriental Poppies

Oriental poppies are very good at growing from bits of root that have been left behind which is a great way of multiplying your stock but isn't so good if you are trying to get rid of the plant.

You're not wrong there!!!!!  Spent ages today trying to dig up bits which were shooting from where I removed one last year. Unfortunately I couldn't get in deeply enough & the shoots just broke off, so fully expect them to regrow.

What do you do or what did you do at work

I worked for Bbbbbbb - a high street bank, until my dept was centralised, 21 in the office; 19 took the brown envelope.
The problem with retirement is that you don't get bank holidays........!!

Where are YOU?

You can probably guess where I am! More specifically, though about 15 miles west of Inverness & being on a coastal plain in the Moray Firth area have pretty good weather considering the latitude.
I previously lived near Kingston, too - Teddington/Hampton Wick border. Can't believe the traffic now when we visit!!

Places you go when the weather improves

What a coincidence; I went on a school geography trip (many, many years ago...)to the Shropshire area & the Carding Mill Valley was where we studied on one of the days.
A couple of weeks ago we spent a few days in Somerset - had a lovely dinner at a pub in Kilve, then a few days around Twickenham. From there we met friends & went to Wakehurst, somewhere that we often visited when we lived near there. Only ever visited the Savill Gardens a couple of times, but the rhodies were stunning.
We also wanted to see the punchbowl & Hindhead without the A3 but didn't get time. Next visit maybe!

Hi Frank, I, too, am interested in family & local history & it does take up an awful lot of time!!

I enjoy dancing but my type is Scottish Country - great fun, very sociable & good exercise!  - Must go, got things to do before the dance tonight.

Thanks for the notification about PMs Dove - I've ever only sent 3 & of course sod's law says that the facility won't be working when I want to send one!!

I'll look out for Daniel's thread.

When you stopped posting I was worried & I started a thread - but nobody had heard anything of you.

I don't get a lot of time to come on here now unfortunately but I'm really pleased that you're still hale & hearty & still enjoying your garden & giving good advice.

Sorry I couldn't send you a personal message, but it won't work - there's no box to type into!

Cheers, Jean.

Reducing the Noise from Road

Would you have room for a water feature of some sort?  It might help to mask the road noise a bit.
