I wondered if you were watching Verd - with the National Collection of Geums on it!

Your bit about your lupins reminded me of the Monty Python sketch - a spoof on Robin Hood but he was called Dennis Moore (!) When he stole from the rich, instead of saying 'your money or your life',  he said  'your life or your lupins'. I always think of it whenever I hear lupins mentioned

Something for the weekend.......enjoying gardens and flowers.

I'd love to go - gardens, cake & a celebrity (Woodgreenwonderboy), what more could you want?? Well for me, maybe 600 miles closer would help!!

Anyway I hope that everyone from here who goes has a lovely time, the sun shines & Ww raises lots of money for charity.

Ww, I hope that you manage to get everything done in your garden that you need to, before The Big Day, & may all your weeds be little ones!

Presumably Ggirl will be reporting in after the event to let us know what the cake was like. Oh, and the gardens too.

I've just been pulling out masses of variegated ground elder, Aegopodium podagraria, it's gone into my 3 fuschia ricartonii. Glyphosate in the spring, again, for next year. Done it before, before the fuschia starts growing - but it always comes back.

Oh dear, I dabbed my variegated ground elder with glyphosate a few days ago - looks like the first of many applications. It's in a raised bed, maybe I can put in a physical barrier "thinkingcaponsmiley"

Could his name be Dennis, Highland Jennie.

I have also asked why they spell 'Ambulance' or 'Police' backwards on vehicles.  Doh!!!

10 out of 10 Tina!

My "party piece" when young was to recite the alphabet backwards, taught by an aunt & we had (short!) conversations in kcab gnals (back slang).  My wierd brain  still often "translates" words into reverse (why???) so ecnalubmA or eciloP would seem not unusual to me (I know, I know!!)

What's the weather like in your area?

Cloudy this morning. Just as we arrived at an open garden the sun came out; it was very warm sitting eating cake .

Lovely sunny evening now.

Lovely sunshine up here, too with a gentle breeze.

Glorious sunset.

Once commented that I didn't realise firemen named their engines. Think about it.

My OH has lots of fire engines named after him & we get quite miffed if we see one that isn't!!

Or maybe he was called after the fire engine??

weather was great then clouded over and then got sunny again...still is.

evening everyone.

anyone grown eupatorium chocolate?  I know I should start a new thread but I is lazeeee.  I have a lot of purple, brown, copper leaves but am tempted by this one.  got the right spot, next to miscanthus variegatus, but am interested to hear others' opinions of this plant

Cloudy until about 4pm & blue skies & sun ever since.

I have had the Joe Pye weed version for a couple of years & fancied the chocolate so planted it last year................I still await its arrival from its winter slumbers; I haven't ferreted around yet but I think it's an ex-eupatorium (Like the verbena bonnies) It was not a hard winter either.

Sorry not a lot of help really!!
