I had a golden foliage philadelphus in a tub for 4-5 years, it was fine, but drunk a lot!  It's now in the ground - I'd never be without one; the scent is just gorgeous.  Choisya is not really hardy enough up here.

What's the weather like in your area?

-5c in the shed first thing, spent most of the day in town, 10.5c mid afternoon.  Driving home it was rather hazy to N & W. Still sunny now though, but getting noticeably breezy.

It Is Not Spring Yet !!!

Grew some in a large tub a few years ago; after a couple of years they slowly "disappeared" - I thought it was the cold, maybe I inadvertantly let them dry out!

I planted some in the ground last year (at the right time), some spikes came out very well, but late & by the time nearly half of them tried to flower it was too late & after an early hard frost no more flowers. I lifted them 'cos I thought I should up here; bunged them in newspaper in a box in the garage - barely above freezing.  Looked at them yesterday expecting a slimy mush & they look very happy .  I cut off their stems & put them into paper bags, maybe I should plant them as early as possible as they seem much hardier than I thought. Maybe into pots soon.

Got your sun at last then bunny??

Very frosty again last night, so lovely blue skies all day.  Just got back from wandering amongst the snowdrops & winter aconites on the Black Isle (not black;not an island)  Temp on car showed 6-8c & being well wrapped up it was glorious!

Minus several again last night & blue blue skies, so fairly cold but lovely in the sun.

About 4c here today & rather cloudy.

Took a hand fork into the back (N facing) garden & had a prod in different areas to see how frozen it was.

About a quarter of the garden is frozen hard on the surface; a half is soft for about the top inch then frozen solid below & the quarter where the sun now reaches   is lovely & soft .

PS. Still no snow (yet!......)
