Verdun.
I would say that most people dont know what a Vine Weevil looks like, may know what a weevil looks like but NOT a Vine Weevil, there is a difference when it comes to plant care.
What you say about the care of plants is what we should all be doing.

You are getting away from the problem of VINE WEEVIL and belive me they are a problem, not in the garden but in POTS.
When you start to expect growth on spring plants e.g Primroses - you may well be very disapointed, take plant out of pot just to see if there are any ROOTS, also check for small c shaped grub with a cream body and tan head ,dont ask its name just put your foot on it.

Once and for all - NO CHANCE!!. it will take time and effort. 1st i would stripe
the membrane cover off,Then DAMAGE the "leaves"otherwise the weedkiller will have no chance as the leaves have a surface that is water proof ,apply weedkiller ALL over that means the edges as well, replace a weed control membrane that will block out light COMPLETLY, around edges put something to keep the light out eg stones, now leave it, just keep fingers crossed.

How true, once you have a few plants they divide and multply very easy, but do be aware that Vine Weavll LOVE these plants if kept in pots and con and will destroy the roots.
