Anyone done any gardening today - Version 2

Posted: 07/05/2016 at 19:44

No garding today, but spent a very enjoyable couple of days in the week. Pricking out, potting on, watering and generally shuffling things about to make more space. No show on the early cuttings,so done some fresh

Some earlier divisions of plants have no re divided. Free plants, love it! Be careful with the sunburn Wonks, I know my skin hasn't seen any sunshine for a long long time

Hope everyone gets some sunshine and time in their gardens this weekend

Can't find the thread, it might have been on this one. Has the problem with being able to see into peoples profiles without being a member been sorted out?

Could a like button/icon be added to posts? I think it would work well in this new format

The only improvement that I can see has happened is that people can now post pictures directly from smart phones and the quote function is at long last working.

I'd agree with others who made the point that this new format is designed purely with mobile devices in mind and there is need to adapt to technology. Other forums manage this well so dissappointed that the team haven't thought through all the options open to them. No testing of the site with it's users :(

I'm a change person, this is a change but not an improvement.  I don't having to unclick for emails all the time, that's just like spamming.  Fortunatley mine go to an email that I no longer use. Just as well I didn't change it.

I read else where that you can't enlarge photos now, that was a great funtion. It takes ages to get to threads that you are part of. A real loss of functionality, spontenity, enjoyment and connection with people. It's very unspiring and dull.

With regards to the edit function, again other forums manage perfectly well. Either a note pops up to say it was edited or there is time limited peroid for edits. I don't see what the problem would be with edited posts? I belong to non gardening forum run and hosted by one guy, who has this function. He also has a  preview function to check your post before submitting. It is possible to incorporate these things.

The ability to hover over a thread and see what it's about before opening it was great, that's gone too.

And yes Hosta it takes ages to use. I can waste plently of hours on the internet but it all feels like too much hard work on here. It was pleasure just to pop in and out. All the scrolling makes it very tedious and it's very boring to use.

I'm really disappointed. A real case of throwing the baby out with the bathwater :( Even the smileys aren't working. Sadly there will be no going back now, it's here to stay.

Planting out Lupins

Posted: 06/05/2016 at 08:55

Last year the grey big aphids killed mine off so I bought a small plant a few weeks ago and planted it straight away, so far so good. It's grown loads and minimal damage from pests.  I haven't had to this yet but in the past I have used a small amount of slug pellets just to give the plants a bit of chance to get going .

It's in  a more shady position than the one I had last year, it got too hot which I think encouraged the bugs

I grew some of this from seed a couple of years ago and still have the plants going strong, even though it's meant to be a biennual.  I think I got my seeds from seedaholic first off then I collected my own. Think I just sowed them outside in a tray and left alone.

They are easy to take cutting from too. One of mine had a long stem with little offsets of plants growing from them so I trimmed off the growing bits from the stem, placed in compost and left alone and they have rooted now.

Gorgous smell, I like them as cut flowers and the moths enjoy them too. Hope they come good for you rosemummy :)

I'm doing the green/seed house shuffle too Think I've got about 50 + larkspur with still some more to come out as well as all the other stuff. Having to dig deep to find small size pots at the moment. I haven't done a count but it must be getting on to be 100 plus so yes I think it's normal nut Well it is to me

Cosmos Plant - help

Hi tony, is the plant in it's own pot now? If it's looking healthy with plenty of leaves, I would pinch it out. They get really bushy that way
