What is eating my Sweet Peas?

Posted: 19/06/2014 at 21:06

If the holes are irregular, they are probably caused by snails and slugs. Yes, they really go after sweet peas; especially when the plants are young. Not so much after, but they will get the lower leaves. If it is leaf miners, you could spray with soap and bicarbonate of soda; but wash the leaves after and do this in the morning when the plants have time to dry off; otherwise you could get mould and mildew.

Thisis called blindness. The cause is eithera rapid change of temperature during development; say hot to cold all of a sudden,or the reverse. It is common and not fixable, but will right itself when the weather evens out.

You transplant roses in either spring or autumn, but before the ground freezes. They must establish themselves which takes about 6 to 8 weeks before they are exposed to very cold or wet weather.
