Talkback: Impatiens downy mildew

Ferns are my favourite plant for any shady spot! (Just thought I would throw that out there.)

Don't think I have overwatered the plant... if anything I could have given it more water over the past couple of months.

The leaves shedding may just be old foliage, but combined with all the little lumps on the stems, worried it is a disease?

Phoenix Canariensis help

Shouldn't be pot bound... I only moved it from the smaller pot we bought it into, to the larger pot a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if it was in a heated room at the garden centre, but it was outside and has now been moved into our porch which gets a lot of light but hardly any direct sun light (which is what the tag said were the conditions it liked). It may have overwatered it as the soil did take a long time to dry, so could this be it?

Been watering this a lot over the past few days, but the leaves are still shedding and there are lots of spots on all the stems, which do not appear to be an insect so possible fungal infection?

Could someone tell me what the green tenticles are growing out the base of my Pheonix Canariensis?

Also, not sure if it doesn't like the lack of sun or too much, but we've cut all the drying out foliage so hard to tell if this will survive or not.

Can i grow clematis in a trough?

This should be ok. I would try it and if after a few years the clematis gets too big for its boots (so to speak), then transplant it. Just don't go for the smallest trough, but one of the deeper, wider ones (and make sure it has good drainage).

Help with sunburnt chilli plants

Just tried to rescue my chilli seedlings from our Mini-Greenhouse, and they look pretty shrivelled! I have moved them into the cool darkness of the garage and given them a good spraying of water to rehydrate them. Anyone know if they may be salvageable or if they are a write-off? Been growing them since January so will be devastated if they are done for!

...Think the Fatsia Japonica has taken the worse bashing with the cold weather this year...

It was sad to see the Fatsia in the frosts with it's drooping foliage. Hopefully they'll be ok though now

I was about to say put in a strong metal barrier, but as MuddyFork pointed out, roots can go pretty deep. Might be worth a try though?
