A to Z of gardening

Little disappointed that they did not show any of the Chilli trial for Chilli's (when they covered C) but least we have some sort of a gardening fix for the winter.

Guess the little tree

Posted: 22/01/2013 at 20:07

Here are some pics of the mystery tree.. any idea's? We found it towards the end of last summer after clearing out loads of overgrown bushes all around it, so cant imagine it has had much light before we discovered it,

Try to ignore all the ivy growing behind it, trying to make the photo's like a magic eye . Hopefully this little fella can have a whole new life now that it is free of the surrounding overgrowth!

Gardeners World Chilli Trial

Posted: 05/10/2012 at 10:21

I'm hopefully gonna get a heat mat and some chilli seeds to sow some chilli's beginning of the year. Dovefromabove, I said I'd love it if they did one and it turned out to be a similar summer, not expect them predict the future! lol. Does anyone know what varieties of chilli are best to try growing outdoors in the UK?

Gardeners World Chilli Trial

I missed this trial period. Was it any good and is it still watchable anywhere? I would love it if Gardeners World did a new trial, especially if they did it for a summer like we've just had. Also, does anyone know any other helpful sites that would assist an amateur chilli grower?

Courgette Help

We're growing three courgette plants. So far we've only had one Courgette (plenty of flowers though). The flower at the tip of the courgette has now come off. Is this the right time to harvest a courgette, as it is still quite small? Should I wait and see if the courgette will grow bigger without the flower at the end?

Do I harvest my Potatoes soon?

Our potatoes have been growing in a potato sack since mid-April. The plants themselves are getting really big (we've even had to tie some to a stake to hold the plants up). When do you reckon would be a good time to start harvesting? Not sure what variety they are so dont know if they are supposed to flower.

Sickly smelling plant

I've had a look at the pictures of houttuynia on google and reckon you're right! Got the horrible smell, the right leaves and the right stems! Let's just hope the bugger doesn't come back!
