Just been on the interhort website and the HUmax produacts all say peat based.  Can't find Erin's Excel anywhere :S

I've done OK with Verve for seeds and pots but agree it doesn't seem to last well in pots so I'm going to go for something better now as I've got a lot of things to pot on and don't want to be wasting water (or time).

So thanx for the tips for Humax & Erin's Excel

I have one to tackle this autumn - it's been in the wrong place 2 years longer than it should have been and hs grown quite large.

I'm sure I heard or read on/in Gardeners' World that the reason before you should dig around the root-ball and fill with loose compost so any damage is repaired before you move it and it's easier to dig up - did I dream it?

Using nettle & comfrey juice

It is pretty foul isn't it?

That helps I think so I'll get feeding with the comfrey and leave the nettle to the compost - thanx

Using nettle & comfrey juice

Forgive me if there's already a thread on this but I can't find anything.

Last year I made litres of nettle juice with just a bit of comfrey in and then I realised it was nitrogen-rich so worried that it wasn't what I needed for flowers and fruit.  This year I've just got comfrey on the go as I think I heard it has more potassium in it so would be better for flowers & fruit.

What's the best use of them both and at what stage in a plants life?

Built up a new compst bin at the weekend and watered it in with the nettle juice so I reckon that should be pretty good

What's loving all this rain?

Meadowsweet i the bog garden is ENORMOUS and I noticed some in the wild much taller and denser than normal.  My one rose has flowered continuously for weeks and weeks with no sign of the buds letting up - will definitely try to water more in hot years in future.

Self-set calendular and giant nasturiums are everywhere and flowering abundantly.  The lupins have been stunning but the leaves are like lace curtains from the slugs n snails now
