You could also have a look on the website of Hawthorn Clematis Nursery,  Richard is a very good friend of mine and I buy all my clematis from him.

He also does mail order.

I was in my local homebase last yesr and picked up a Fatsia Japonica reduced from £12 to 50p, only because the pot was broken looked like it had been dropped,  plants doing great. What a bargain

Armandi dont like cold winds, I grow about 60 different clematis in my garden. But I don't grow the large flowered varieties. 

If you want any ideas have a look on clematis on the web, its run by Hull university. 

My 2 Armandi are growing on a south facing wall.

What type of clematis did you plant?

I would recommend Alpinas and Macropetalas both hardy and fussy were planted, and no pruning

This particular one isn't fragrant, the seller at the Orchid show just said it was very hardy, its sat on a soth facing windowsill in the kitchen
