Hi Forkers--well, the lot of you sound knackered, and my day has just begun.

Am contemplating attacking more broom today, but frankly I lack ambition.

The sun shining through the windows shows how dirty they are---even sunshine has its downside!

Happy Oester!!!

Well, Forkers, it's dinnertime here and I am knackered. I was out on the hillside with my electric  hedge clippers [obtained for free at the recycling depot] attacking invasive broom. I am tring to establish a wildflower meadow there, and was wondering what had happened to my "crowd of daffodils"--only a few showing. Leaves are there--must feed, I guess.

Hate to rub it in, but the temp got to 15 today--in the sun, much warmer. Wish I could send it to you.

Sounds like kennel cough [re: Oscar]--pesky, but not serious. Check with vet.

Trying to get back to 3 smokes a day--and back on track with diet--I am much better on my own.

Beige to me is the colour that is closest to nothing.

My friend Zona is back from more than 2 weeks in hospital today after her op.I think this weather will cheer her up. She's hoping to reach her 90th birthday in July. We'll see.

Howdy, fellow Forkers----

Jess's hat is totally rad, dudes!!! Well done!

Did the WW weigh-in today-and have gained.8 lb!--It was all that cooking for the company that did it!

Dean, your greenhouse looks fab!

Glad the various lurgies are improving, and good luck finding the ring!

Chickadees are so-called because they go Chicka chica dee dee dee. Some of the other"usual suspects" are nuthatches, juncoes and various warblers and finches. Hummingbirds--Rufous are back from Mexico and Anna's spend the whole year here now.

Finished the fence/railing and seed-sowing. Going to sow some Bull's Blood beets outside--love the greens [which are dark red!]

Next week is the annual Nettlefest community dinner here--many dishes utilizing fresh nettles, which are now ready for picking. Some are very tasty.

I don't like clothes on dogs either, except those breeds that need them for warmth. That wee knitted coat looks comfy!

Hello Forkers--weak sunshine today; temp 12*C at 2pm. Have just discovered another lot of seeds to sow--in the greenhouse. Cut the pickets for my fence/railing, then discovered I hadn't charged the cordless drill---so that's a job for tomorrow. Outside a robin is racketing on---and several chickadees and towhees are patiently waiting for me to fill the feeder. Hope your weather and health improves soon--it's so delightful to be pottering around outside.

Rosa--thanks so much for the echium photo--mine is supposed to be pink. Might need a larger pot, if it needs to be frost-free I'd better make it portable!

And the egg cosies are adorable. Know what you mean about busy hands keeping you out of the food--took up knitting for the same reason, but mashed a finger chopping wood a week ago, and it's still sore enough to put the knitting on hold. I did complete one sweater, but it was too small--luckily it fit my niece perfectly, and she was thrilled to have it! Am halfway through a "Condo" sweater.

Liz--fabulous cake!

Good morning, Freezing Forkers---sunny here today and almost 5*C at 9 am. Our schoolkids have been on Spring Break for a week, with another week to go.

I bought an Echium at the last plant sale, but know nothing about them. Put the pot in the greenhouse, and it immediately wilted--so brought it inside and soaked it--it revived. I have put it into a bigger pot--but need advice. Anyone grown these before?

Evening, Forkers--guess everyone has gone to bed. Turned out to be not a bad day--a bit chilly. Had a lazy day--now that all my company has gone, it feels too quiet around here. Just having leftovers for dinner---not often there is leftover smoked salmon! No wine left, alas. Hope it warms up for you all soon. My spinach and radishes are well up--and there's lots of pricking out to do in the greenhouse--but tomorrow's another day. PBS is having a Downton Abbey Season 3 marathon on all day. Good night all.

Just taken grandson to the ferry after a lovely 5 day visit. It was a gorgeous sunny day today--he even cleaned the gutters, bless him. My dog Inka keeps looking for him--loved those long daily walks in the woods!

He stacked all the logs he could, the rest need to be split--way too heavy to lift!

Morning Forkers--beautiful sunshine today, but cold--only 2 degrees. Back to the cleanup--have to take advantage of my grandson's help for the next 2 days. Those arbutus logs are incredibly heavy--there are many that we can't shift. The workman with the chainsaw won't be back til April!

The neighbour above me is paying for this tree removal--it maximizes his view, so I'm hoping he may come down and help after Josh is gone.I will be getting a lot more sun--may have to move my hellebores--again!
