Discovered my newly emerging hellebore shoots are covered with aphids, but bulbs are well up in my pots. Just generally tidying up. Feels SOOOOO good to be outside!

My dogs convert food into something else--copiously. Too many Xmas treats,methinks.

Back to gloom after a brief respite yesterday.Christmas is all cleaned up now-except for the lights on the arbour--think I'll leave those!

I am suffering from a food hangover[in more ways than one]--so today I've done cleanup, taken apart the "tree"--it was very dried out, and cleaned up the results of too many treats for the dogs!! Niece is safely back in Vancouver, and I am enjoying the peace and quiet. Took a huge tray of home-baked sweets--tarts and cookies, etc down the hill to my sweet-toothed friends for Boxing Day, and that's me done til next year.

Morning, forkers----well, we have survived the end of the world and Christmas,too! Lovely day with my niece yesterday--lots of food and pressies--then we played backgammon and watched a movie after dinner. She gave me a lovely cement sculpture of the Green Man for the garden, and we spent time Skyping with her family in Australia,where they were lounging around in 30 degree weather and eating loads of scrummy food.Sigh. Can't remember the sun! So she leaves today--we will probably do some visiting this afternoon.

Hi,all--just been digging out the ancestral silver and festive china--somehow I ended up with all this stuff I never use but can't throw away. Everything got a good scrub and a polish--so many memories wrapped up in each piece--treasures from my mother and her mother and my other grandma. I guess some things are over 100 years old.

Feeling quite nostalgic. Welcome the chance to trot them out--even if it will be just the 2 of us.

Hello, forkers--sorry to hear about your weather--hope it stops raining soon. No dramas here-just grey and rainy, but no flood danger. The gravel hill in front of my house is in rough shape, though--there is a stream running down it.

All xmas prep done, niece arrives on Christmas Eve. Just have to make up her bed.

The dogs know there are treats in their stocking, have had to hide it away.

I wish I could be busy outside--having smoking cravings. Might try the patch for a day, see if it agrees with me.

Did my final shopping today--for food and champagne--and baked some little quiches to freeze. I have really overdone it on the baking,however--my niece will have a lot to carry home! It's really quite fun to have Christmas at home for a change!

Well,forkers, I see you are now into tomorrow and the world hasn't ended yet. My niece messaged me from Bali, and everything is fine there too. Bad news for all those who were hoping to escape the credit card bills--but looks like all that Christmas prep is not in vain! I'm off to bed now!
