Yes,tinkling fairy, the bells do tinkle--they are glass. I just got them in a thrift store for practically nothing--they were hopelessly tangled, so I imagine the donor had just given up. It took me literally hours to untangle--but I am thrilled with the result. I had no idea they would look like this--each bell has an opalescent sheen on it!

If you click on the photo to enlarge you can see Inka casting a baleful eye on the horrible weather--no walkies today!

Hello,all--it is just miserable outside with gusty wind and heavy rain with snow mixed in--so my lights are on all day to dissipate the gloom.

This is the "tree" I made from my obelisk and cedar boughs. I need to get an angel for the top.

Love that my Christmas cactus blloms at the right time--and note the contrast with the misery outside!

Oh, Rain, that is so sad about your cat--7 is very young.

I stopped putting tinsel on my tree years ago, but every Christmas it turns up in the corners--I call it Christmas dandruff. Quite dangerous for animals, particularly young ones. Years ago my son had a pet rabbit that would chew on the tree--we had to put chicken wire around it, and it looked quite odd.

Wind warning up overnight, with the possibility of wet snow--its been cold and sunny all day, so the woodpile has been replenished, batteries bought for the book light, and I'm settling in with my glass of wine and my nicotine gum. Still down to 5 smokes a day, but it's not getting any easier.

Well,my tree is finally up--I decided not to cut one down, and used my 2 foot wrought iron garden obelisk and lots of cedar prunings to create one. The house smells lovely, and it is the perfect size--I will only be having company for 2 days over Xmas, and debated over having one at all. It looks great!!!!. I will be roasting a special free range chicken with all the trimmings--there's just the 2 of us.

Power outage last night was only for 5 hours--was surprised, as I was resigned to it being out at least overnight--the whole island was out. It wasn't blowing too bad here, but it was wild on the Gulf side. Supposed to be well below freezing tonight, though. Hauled lots of wood outside the back door.

Hang in there, Zippy--it will soon be all over. Know what you mean--it gets a bit much, doesn't it?

Power back on after being out for 5 hours--woke me up, but not for long. Had to go on line to find out who won Survivor--lights went off 1/2 hour in.Good result, from my point of view. And now back to bed, after resetting everything.

Wind has died down now, but it's very chilly. Christmas gifts are mailed, dinner is shopped for, and I am ready. Time for a hot bath and snuggling up with a good book!
