Last evening I had a visitor

And the project is coming along. I am leaving the vertical garden as is for a couple of days before adding another layer.

Thanks, Tazman. The cannas in the photo look very much like mine; they are called African Sunset, and I've had them for years. They are well worth the trouble of overwintering. Each year I divide them and give some away.

Lovely photos, Tazman, your clematis are impressive, and I particularly like the cannas.

We are having a little heat wave at the moment, and I was deligted today to see the first blooms on my iris ensata.[sp?] I had forgotten what they were supposed to look like!

Love the climbing hydrangea--mine is still small and has yet to bloom.

Well, my concrete is poured in the cool of the morning--not a job I like to do in the hot sun. So it's more digging and moving rocks and soil--can't wait to plant my first vertical garden! Won't have to buy plants--have lots of hens and chicks, echiversa and other succulents already. I have one called Mexican Jellybeans--don't know if it's hardy, but we'll find out!

I live on an island on the west coast of Canada, between Vancouver and Victoria.  Our weather is similar to yours.

Too hot for mixing concrete--but I have another terrace done -well, except for soil-and am hiding out in the house with a cold glass of cider. Thank goodness for the ocean breeze. I would be perfectly content if the weather stayed like this. Supposed to have a good few days.

Lovely photos--looks like another sunny day here. Just finished watering, then it's back to the construction project. It's concrete day.

Hello all--glad to hear you are getting some sun too--another lovely day here, and looks like more to come, finally. I actually ate my first ripe strawberry yesterday!

Today's plan is to work on terracing the steps up to the garden door--can't wait to begin working on my vertical garden! But lots of rocks to move first.
