Never heard of Pancake day--actually am feeling a bit queasy and I've pulled a muscle in my hand chopping kindling, so am spending the day tucked up with Lewis--my friend has them all except the very latest on DVD.

Dean--best of luck to your OH, hope everything turns out OK.

Planted sprouted sweet peas outside yesterday, but saved seeds slow to sprout. Gray again here with temp of 7*--and the wind is picking up. Did a small grocery run earlier; glad I don't have to go anywhere. Hope everyone is syaying warm--and dry!!!!

I heard an eagle doing a mating call today. There are lots of them around--they fish in the Pass below. Too soon for whales, though.

Not to worry, Flo--you didn't really spoil much.

The last Downton is on here next Sunday--guess it would have been the one you saw at Xmas---Forkers have been really good about not spoiling it for us poor North Americans!

I have Iris Reticulata blooming, some primulas and snowdrops. It's been a mild winter here on the Wet Coast---but quite the opposite on the East. The Japanese plum at the school is just about to burst into flower--wish I had cut some branches to force.

Spring is so close I can smell it!

Cloudy and somewhat mild here--temp @7*c at 11 am.

Planted sprouted sweet peas yesterday--leftover seeds from last year. Had started some in the fall the year before, then some about this time, and they all began blooming at once, so didn't bother this year with fall planting.

Unlike you, we have had a mild winter--unlike the other side of the country which is digging out after a blizzard. Again.

Seems like a good day to hole up with tapes of Lewis and Midsomer. Last Downton Abbey is next Sunday--it's the one you saw as the Christmas special, I think.

Most libraries here have e-books you can borrow on-line for your device. I do that when I've read all the new mysteries from our own little library. When I worked at the school last week I checked on the building progress of the new library--the building is up--should be done in May. Can't wait!!!

Dear Lottie, so sorry to hear of your troubles as well. Caz is right---sometimes it's helpful to have a place to have a bit of a moan when you have to put on a brave face for others.

Hi Forkers---doing a bit of catch-up---

Love Dean's pots

Proud of Jean's grandson

Favorite gardening book for me is Botanica--mostly for i.d.,then look up details on line

I am a bookaholic--prefer the real thing, but e-readers have the capability of making the print larger, which is sometimes a definite advantage.

A gloomy day today, but the snowdrops and Iris reticulata are in bloom.

Hello, Frivolous Forkers--------I'm off to bed soon, as I'm knackered-worked at the school today, and am going again tomorrow--it was fun. I have a sore throat--not used to using my voice so much. I do so enjoy being around the kids--and they are glad to see me--got to do an art lesson today, and another one tomorrow.

I keep hearing about chocolate cosmos-never seen them in the garden centers here, but I enquired at one of them and they are going to notify me when they have them in the spring.

Weigh in was today and I have lost 15.6 lbs since November--am going to reward myself with a modest shopping spree!

It's already tomorrow where you are, so I hope everyone has a terrific day!
