Morning, Frozen Forkers!!!

Lots of baking going on, I see--terrific thing to do on a snowy day. I have sworn off--went overboard at Christmas, and of course am now on WW.

Overcast here--couldn't get out of my driveway for the ruts, so I phoned and complained--they came to fix it within the hour . The road needs proper ditching---he said they'd be on it "soon". We'll see!

Off to recycle now!

Hang in there, folks, the snow can't last forever. Doesn't take long for the novelty to wear off, does it?

Most of Canada is used to snow, of course, but here on the West Coast nobody has snow tires, and few know how to drive in it. Add to that the lack of sufficient snow-clearing equipment, and Vancouver and Victoria fare about as well as you do.

Hello,Flower bird-and welcome. I live on the west coast of Canada, so I join in late.

What's Ofsted?

That's a good long way from me, Dean--other side of the Rockies. Wouldn't want to do -35 in a tent! The prairie winters are so severe---nothing stops the wind!

I was born in Winterpeg, but came to the Coast when I was 8, thank goodness. Still have family there, though.

Am off to do a brisk dog walk in the sunshine.

I see you have the hatches battened down--sunny and just above freezing here.

Joined WeightWatchers online yesterday--we'll see how that goes. Still down to 3 smokes a day.

Your temps seem to range between + and -8; big difference. My friends in Yellowknife are reporting -47 with the wind chill! Of course, they are prepared for it.

Sympathy to your friend--7 is very young, unless it's one of the massive breeds--why I would never have one--too heartbreaking.

Grey here and about +2 at 9:30--fire on. My 2 dogs, Blue and Inka, have been invited to join a virtual dog pack that travels around looking for adventures. Should be fun.

Don't envy you your snow--stay warm and safe, everyone!

Hello, all--you have been busy on here.

Beef Wellington looks delish--must try that sometime.

Just coming up to noon here, and we are back to grey drizzle. Last night watched the Golden Globes, which was more entertaining than most awards shows. Tina Fey and Amy Pohler did a good job of hosting, and Adele won for best song-Skyfall.

Then it was time for Downton--poor Edith, can't catch a break. That was brutal.

So I had square eyeballs after that. And so to bed.

As long as it doesn't go below 0 during the day, it will be fine. If it freezes, I have no running water in the house. Happened twice last winter. Hope the insulation works!

Jean, didn't know that my cousin's house in Winnipeg was on the market! Viewings in Jan-Feb only, of course. In the summer giant mosquitoes move in!

Sunny and frosty here,too- and down to about -2*-not cold enough for outside pipe to freeze; will see if that insulation helps this year.
