Save our bees

I friended Avaaz on my Facebook and get an email every now and then. You can chose to have no further communications or for me, I ticked the box on environmental issues (and a few others) so only get notified of relevant campaigns. It's so easy just giving your email address (not passed on). Just enough to let people know you care and that they are accountable.

I'm not a placard swinging type but the vast majority of people would never behave like this and those that do need to know they can't solve a problem by creating another. Thanks folks

Hi pash. I'm trying to do a similar thing but hole/trench just fill with water. Need a dry spell! We're not on mains for drainage so had a large soak away in the back garden for rainwater to channel into (also put rainwater tank in to harvest for watering) builder just lined the huge hole with what looked like that weed membrane and wrapped the gravel in a parcel. Thought I would do the same in a channel under my paths. Think that would also stop soil from washing in from sides too. These membranes are supposed to last over twenty five years? Buy on eBay at a reasonable price.
Think your crates would work fine as know some people who have just dug trenches, half filled them with a load of pea shingle leading to a deeper hole. Good luck

That is so sad. The old saying "never bite the hand that feeds you" springs to mind. Will have a look on iPlayer. Thank you

Yay. The more that sign the further AVAAZ can take this.

You'll no doubt see that the shareholders did not vote to stop the manufacture of the chemical. However, the petition is still there and is still open for signatures and will be delivered to the supervisory board of the company and hopefully lead to a change in legislation. Nothing to do with party politics, It sadly takes something to shake people to make the right decision. Unfortunately the poor wee bees haven't a voice so someone has to tell the big B's what's happening. Keep flagging it up to friends and hopefully the weight of the petition will make someone listen.

Thank you. Nearly 900,000 on the petition so far. It's heartening to watch people from all over the world taking time to be counted as caring. Great that these folks are flagging up the opportunity to be heard and make a diffence.

Pictures from garden or hospital bed! That is actually a good idea for newbies to do as I have loads of befores, during and afters of my previous gardens. I have left beautiful gardens sadly but know these people are enjoying sitting out in the sunshine admiring my flowers.

Sorry. Should then have said you can grow anything you like. The beauty of gardening is things want to grow. If you don't have the best conditions they'll maybe not do as well as someone who has spent years adding compost and fertiliser to their soil. It's like going to the gym for the first time. Don't be put off by those that can run marathons. You have to put in the time but it will constantly reward you.

Spell checker!! It should be porous weed suppressing membrane. That what I lined the trench with too letting the water still soak through but stopping muck from getting into the stones. A bit of over kill but I want to do this once. I bought the stuff on eBay so wasn't too expensive.
