Greenfly by the million

I like the cayenne pepper idea. With repeated sprays of soapy water we seem to have kept them off recently, but the honeysuckle has taken such a hammering it looks terrible. Gutting when all the other honeysuckle I pass locally is in rude health.

watering (i'm new to gardening)

we have a small London zone 2 garden. it was concrete when we moved in and we worked VERY hard last year to turn it into a small square lawn bordered on two sides by narrow (2') borders.

ive realised I have no idea how often to water! if something wilts then yes obviously, but I mean watering for maximum health and growth

if it doesnt rain, after how many days do I need to water? how much? how often?!

it's been dry for a good week here and the lawn is alredy yellowing...

any advice greatfully received (I feel quite a fool for needing to ask!)

yes it was lovely last week. gutted! so I can either have sun or irises!

weirdly, I have just noticed today that it's only the second flower (to come out) on each stem which is affected.

our irises flowered and were stunning, but the petals almost immediately started going brown and curling up at the tips.

any ideas?

I infused boiling water with orange peel, and spraying that every few days has kept greenfly off our roses, but it doesnt do much good on the honeysuckle, which is COVERED.

Might have to resort to chemicals : (

we have a small, shady garden. how can I encourage our azaleas to grow up rather than out?
