scroggin - i make hot sauce out of mine aswell as freezing them. Last year I dried my cayenne peppers and made homemade cayenne pepper. If you have loads of chillies, experimenting with hot sauces is a good way to use some up, or personally i'd just freeze them for later on...

I'll leave it to the end of the month and start again, I have a couple of seeds left which is why I have been on top of the ones i've already sown. I cant really buy seeds here in cyprus, they haven't really caught up with the spicyness yet!! so it would be great if you could send me some hot seeds please! have you started you batch for this tear yet?

sorry about not getting back to you stacey, i havent been online... right, i made a make shift greenhouse and 'heatmat', the temperature of the 'heatmat' gets really warm! so warm i cant leave it on over night incase i wake up to no house! i leave it on about 16hours of the day though... could my seeds have died by now? i mean theyve been potted since the beginning of feb and i have nothing happening, even the cayennes and jalapenos seem to be doing nothing.

i have them in cells... there's 20 cells altogether... i have fly screens on every window and the sliding door is in a shaded part of my garden... i mean as soon as i put it outside in the morning its clouds up in the propagator near enough straight away, so i imagine its quite humid in there... its just the evenings that i think could be proving a problem... maybe ill have to hope for the best for now atleast until the weather gets warmer??

haha they didnt even know what a propagator was then I asked in my local flower shop!! I stumbled across 1 in a newly opened store! Its just a bog standard plastic thing, nothing special at all, where the country is generally very hot they just count on the sun for the growth of plants, but chillies aint on their list of plants, they sell 1 type of chilli, i dont even know what it is... i'll definitely try the plastic bag trick, just stick the propagator into the bag i'm assuming? I haven't got any window ledges on the inside of my apartment which is a pain!

Hello all...

hello Stacy... I posted a thread earlier and got directed here to speak to you... HOPEFULLY you can push me in the right direction!!

I'm currently living in Cyprus, I moved here the beginning of last year. I planted scotch bonnets and cayennes around march/april last year, from seed and didnt do too badly, although my first time growing!

I've recently (3-4 weeks ago) planted more seeds (scotch bonnets, jalapeno, cayenne, trinidad scorpion and chocolate bhuts) into a small propagator. The daytime temp is topping at 21c and the night time dropping to 11-13c, i put a small light over the propagator to generate some heat as I cant get a heat mat over here and its a BIG pain to get them shipped... but I've had no luck what soever so far, not even a peeping sprout from the jalapenos!

Am I just being impatient or am I doing something wrong?
