What is this grub?

Hi there,

Any idea what this is - or what it will become? I find a lot when weeding - wondering if I should squash them

Hi there,

I have an issue with a low hedge of box I am trying to grow. I have about 10 plants that have been in for a year now. They are alive but look very yellow. Below is a link to a photo of one (I know I need to weed around it!). You can see how yellow they are by the comparison with the grass. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I was planning on weeding and then mulching and crossing fingers. They are on a horrible clay soil on a slope and get sun most of the day (West facing)

I grew them from plugs from the garden centre. Not impossible though that I mixed something up. Here is a better res picture to see if this helps with identification.

I've dug them all out now and added to the compost

Nope - nothing like that. I know the pigeons had a go and I had to net it - so maybe that was the problem

Large dip in garden

I have something a bit similar but not as big. Luckily for me there is somewhere to drain it too so I've dug in perforated pipe. But its been so wet for so long that even that can't keep up and the turf is in an inch of water.

Broccoli problem

Hi there,

Planted purple sprouting broccili last year (I'm a novice). Attached picture shows it now. Presumably its about to flower. It never went purple. So two questions. Presumably I can dig it all out and pop on the compost heap. Any suggestions how to avoid this next year?

Hi there,

This year will be my third year running trying this - and I'd love not to fail again. In a GW video it looks so simple, just stick them in the ground the right way up and hey presto.

I've put my 12" cuttings in both pots, and in the raised veg bed with no success. I get a few green shoots but these seem to get destroyed by the frost. This year I am planning to stick them in my unheated greenhouse to see if that helps.

Any tips on when and how to do this greatly appreciated
