Blairs , I've kept it on the dry side but gave it a week feed just before I took the photo.  I removed some of the dead tips last year - they also got damaged during re-potting .

Had a hell of a job getting it out of the wooden container as it had split and the roots had embedded themselves in the splits. Lesson learned there.

Think I'll give it another month and if there are are no buds , it'll have to go.

Shame , I've known that acer since it was a twig.

Thank you all for trying to help.

Jean.

No. Brumbull - none anywhere but some of the branches are green when I scraped them today.

I think it's had it.

Sounds like everyone had a nice day.

Front lawn got a cut today , a good rake, spike and feed but the back's a bit wet yet,

Wall to wall sunshine here as well but rain coming in Tues.

Chris, I didn't get a lot of info in the instructions except to say plant end of April . The orchid compost bit I read on the web. I guess we'll just have to see what happens. When I spoke to Tracy, she recommended wrapping them in Sphagnum moss.

What have we let ourselves in for ???

Chris - my Taccas have come  Have you potted yours ? If so did you use orchid compost ?

The instructions on mine say not to pot until end of April

Sorry, good evening everyone.

Just excited about my new arrival.

This is my 50p bargain Acer Orange Dream from Wilko's. I haggled with them because it didn't have any leaves and they didn't know it was deciduous !

On the subject of Acers, I tried to link my post from last year on here but the site wouldn't let me. I damaged the roots last year of my Palmatum and was advised to leave it until this year to see if it would recover. Just been checking it and it still looks poorly . To be honest I thought it was dead but some of the bark is still green . There's no sign of any buds and some of the branches have gone very pale and white-ish, Should I leave it a bit longer or have I lost it ?

Thanks,

Jean.
