Afternoon all.

Am supposed to be Mrs Mop but got sidetracked again....

It's raining again had stopped this morning, but this must be the 'showers' they were talking about- oh yeah!

Shoe cleaning next. That's something Dad instilled in me when I was little. Tried with OH & daughter, but no chance. J.

What's the weather like in your area?

Wasnt too bad earlier, but the 'showers' ie rain has returned. Why didnt I refill the bird feeder this morning? Just dont fancy getting out there now. J.

Planting Bulbs and Squirrels

I use pea netting & gently remove it off emerging shoots next Spring. Tulips however I only grow in large pots, plus netting/wire mesh covers, as otherwise they do not stand a chance in my garden. J.

These campanulas are hardy so having it inside isnt needed. The leaves are probably beginning to die back now because of the shortening day length & reduction in average temperatures. Yes if you suspect rust then removing those leaves is a good idea- dont compost, bin them.

I'd expect it to resume growing again next Spring as normal & flower next year. IME slugs & snails love it, so protection of the emerging shoots from that attack is advised. J.

Tomato Ripening

Any unripe ones I put onto trays which are then sat on sunny sills inside the house. The majority of fruit does slowly ripen & saves the need for green tomato recipes. Works with small peppers too IME. J.

I'm another who has been known to wash the car in the rain! Being on a water meter & having a silver car.... It needs it now, but noway at the mo.

Raining non stop since yesterday, but at least the wind is less. Total waterlogging behind the shed where the water butt is overflowing. No idea when will get a couple of dry days together so can do the lawn's final cut......

OH said that his walk back from work yesterday was rather difficult. The canal towpath that he uses was flooded & his detour not much better.

Rain- sympathies. You will have lots of happy memories. J.

Ooh, that was a nice nice pud Becks!

I also lost some avatars, back now. What on earth went on last night? Not that I was around, but gather some stupid person/s tried to mess things up. Usually this board pretty good at spotting/responding to complaints about that sort of messing about.

Car now away in garage & have been eating chocolate. Later am going to try on various pairs of jeans as think may have a slight crisis on the weight front- oops. That's why ate the chocolate now, coz once gone.....

Geoff, glad things improving. OH had some lurgy last week, but was fine after a couple of days.

Rain still falling outside & water butt really overflowing. Couldnt get behind shed if I wanted to without wellies. That's why I ordered it with tanilised timber for the floor. J.

Gosh Inka 90 days with no rain..... more like 90 days with rain every one of them for me this year.

The colchicums were just out when we were in Austria- earlier than previously. I love them, but have nowhere suitable here for them. Just lovely  momories & photos of them in the meadows there. OH very happy to use his new camera!

That's reminded me to visit the fruit farm when go down to NWorcs next week. Crispin apples should be around & they can be eaters or cookers. Only ever seen them there. J.

Suspect the parcels are my bulbs as had an e-mail saying dispatched last Thursday! Then daughter also has been shopping on-line again......... Either way neighbour not in at the mo so will wait & see. My car on drive, so she may realise we're back.

At least the house is feeling warmer now.

Off to continue unpacking. J.

I hadnt planned to venture outside again today, but there are 2 parcels apparently at neighbours', so may have to get wet again later. She could bring them round of course..........

The kitchen drain is now running freely again! Yay. Thought it was a bit slow when we got back from holiday & realised just how bad on Friday night! Anyway got some foaming stuff from supermarket near OH's little house at w/end & have used it as directed- brill. Have made a memo to self to use one every so often, just as do in bathroom, with daughter's hair.

Havent yet totally unpacked & the washing pile is huge- how come? J.
